Preconference workshop on cognition data at GSA

Tuesday, November 7, 2023, from 8am-12pm.
Tampa, FL

The Health and Retirement Study (HRS) is a large and complex panel study of the population over age 50. This preconference workshop will provide guidance on the basic design and content of the study and use of the data with the major focus on the study’s cognition data resources. Presentations will provide in-depth coverage of the cognition data from the core survey that features more than 20 years of longitudinal cognition measurement, the ADAMS study, and the new Harmonized Cognitive Assessment Protocol.

The workshop will show how data from these sources can be used to develop valid survey estimations of the prevalence of mild cognitive impairment and dementia in the population. New HRS data on neurobiomarkers are now available and will be presented along with their potential value in gerontological research on dementia. The workshop will also provide practical guidance on modelling cognitive change over time using linear fixed effects models.
