But older adults live in unequal environments. Low-income older adults and older racial-ethnic minorities are more likely to live in neighborhoods characterized by poverty, disorder, lack of social cohesion, and pollution. At all income levels there is a greater propor- tion of older racial-ethnic minorities in neighborhoods with economic, social, and physical problems.
